Ford History in Indonesia

The Ford brand has been a familiar name in the Indonesian automotive industry since the 1950's. PT Ford Motor Indonesia was established on July 12, 2000 and acquired the sole agency rights to distribute Ford products in Indonesia since 2001. PT Ford Motor Indonesia is a 100% PMA company owned by Ford Motor Company.

In 2002, PT Ford Motor Indonesia launched Ford back into the Indonesian automotive spotlight with its 'Built Ford Tough' Ford Ranger Pick-up truck. Now in its 6th year of operation, PT Ford Motor Indonesia has been name in Gaikindo (Association of Indonesian Automotive Industry) as one of the best 10 automotive brand in Indonesia. This achievement is a direct result of impressive growth in sales and market share through the years, expansion of its dealership network –The Ford Superstores- in major cities, and attention to customer satisfaction from point of purchase to after-sales service. 

2000 
Acquired the sole agency rights to distribute Ford products in Indonesia since 2001.

2002 
March

• Ford Jakarta-Selatan grand-opening, the first 3S superstore in Indonesia.
• First product launch Ford Ranger BU (Thai)

September

• Lynx BU (Philippines) launched.

October

• Escape BU (Philippines) launched.

2003 
May

• New Ford Ranger launched.

September

• New Ford Everest launched.

2004 
May

• Ford Lynx RS launched.
• Ford Ranger & Ford Escape awarded as the best double cabin PU and Best SUV by Mobil-Motor Magazine.

2005 
July

• Ford Focus launched.
• Ford Focus awarded as the best value car on Gaikindo Auto Expo.
• Ford Focus awarded best choice from Top Gear magazine.
• Ford Focus awarded best medium sedan from Autobild magazine.

2006 
January

• Ford Escape sporty – local freshening launched.

September

• Ford Focus 2.0L 5Dr awarded as the best Hatchback sedan by Mobil Motor Magazine.
